The Virgin Money Page

I ordered a Virgin Credit Card over 3 years ago now.  I had to balance transfer some money, and I was offered a 9 months interest free card, which at the time was a great deal!!

I received a letter recently, offering me a new card, or an upgrade to my current card (which I've not used, since the 0% interest free period ran out!! :) ).

And in an ever increasingly competitive market the card is now way improved!!!

The "Bank Transfer Card" is now offering 0% p.a. for 15 months!!!  You also get 0% p.a. on all purchases for the first 3 months.  After that the typical rate is 15.9% APR (variable).

The "Smart Shopper Card" is offering 0% p.a. for 9 months (same as I got 3 years ago).  Although you also get 0% on all purchases for the first 9 months!!!  Fantastic!  The typical rate is the same @ 15.9% APR (variable).

With the card you also get some discount offers from the Virgin family:

  1. First Month Free with Virgin Media (If you are in a cable area)
  2. 10% off Virgin Wines
  3. 10% off Zavvi (The new name for Virgin Megastores)
  4. A month off at Virgin Active
  5. 10% off at Virgin Holidays
  6. 10% off at Virgin Trains
  7. 20% off at Virgin Experiences
  8. 10% off car, home, pet and annual travel insurances!

So, is this the best deal for a credit card out there?

What do you think?

Virgin has been in the news for the last week or so regarding a proposed takeover of Northern Rock.

If successful they would incorporate the Newcastle-based building society/bank in their own existing Virgin Money brand.

The Virgin-led consortium "bid includes an immediate repayment of £11bn of the £25bn the bank owes the Bank of England, with the rest to be repaid within three years. (BBC NEWS)"

Monster money!!!  It looks like that the expanding Virgin brand is getting bigger.

If it's successful that is, it seems that a major shareholder of Northern Rock is opposing the Virgin Bid
